Optimism: Use With Caution

posted by David Wolf on May 29, 2008 | Comments (1) | Permalink | Trackback URL

I was reading Small Business Trends Blog and one of “Ten Quotes to Run Your Business By” had to do with the optimism that can help a small business owner get through the lowest of lows.

In a particular small business endeavor in my past, I can look back and sat that’s true. However, in this case, my unconditional optimism was actually blinding me to make a better a decision as to whether we should keep the business open at all.

As it turned out, I probably should have stopped raising money to keep the lights on, and simply turned them off.

In short, keep your entrepreneurial optimism in check with realism, and it will serve you well.
