Co-Founder/President and business partner Daven Tackett of Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. Established in the company in 2004. JBF has grown from just eleven franchises during its first year to 61 in January 2008, with several more under development.
It is called Just Between Friends because that is how it all began: between friends. In 1997, Shannon and her business partner Daven Tackett were both young, stay-at-home moms with small children, trying to find a way to save money on children’s items. They set up a “consignment” event in Shannon’s living room with 17 women all selling their children’s and maternity clothes, toys and baby equipment. Those who shopped found some great deals for their children and the sale grossed $2000.
The idea took off and Shannon and Daven began having two sales a year. Just Between Friends kept growing. In 2007, they had nearly 2400 consignors at their two sales events in Tulsa with more than 20,000 shoppers. Consignors sell their new and gently used children’s items at the event. They make money and earn money – and the business is making money. This year the Tulsa franchise grossed more than $900,000. As a whole, Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. grossed more than $4.5 million. Each year, they reach hundreds of thousands of families across the country.
The company has gained national attention. Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. was featured on “The Big Idea” with Donny Deutsch in January 2008. Shannon was also interviewed for a feature on http://www.womenforhire.com, http://www.ABCNews.com and http://www.sbtv.com.
