What Is The Best Way To Pitch The Media?

If you’ve been sending out press releases to the media without any responses, it’s time to target your approach. After all, media members are inundated with press releases, e-mails and faxes on a daily basis… so what’s the best way to pitch your story to the media?

Pick up the phone. That’s right. Simply call the producer, editor, reporter, or writer you’re trying to reach and introduce yourself. Provide valuable information specific to that person and offer yourself as a resource.

Now, you may not get a feature story right away. But at least you’ve started a working relationship that can lead to media mentions, new clients, and sales in the future.
