Leadership Styles With Camille F. Bishop

posted by David Wolf on Mar 16, 2009 | Comments (2) | Permalink | Trackback URL

Camille is a career educator with 30 years of international teaching experience. She says that the face of leadership is changing in companies across America, and the stakes have never been higher.

Here are the show notes:

1. The book features 4 unique and very different characters who set out to take a journey on a company (Handover Company) teambuilding white-water rafting trip…plus their guide for trip. Why the rafting trip?
2. You have 4 principle characters—-each representing their own generation’s unique work-think-leadership styles. Walk us through the 4 main characters and the generations and characteristics they represent.
a. Nate-Millennial 1982-2002
b. Brianna-Gen X 1961-1981
c. Brad-Boomer-1946-1964
d. George-Silent Generation 1925-1942
3. It seems that Daniela is a pivotal character in all of this—-how did you think about her role as it relates to this journey?
4. Page 107—-you say, “for the Millennials, this is a no brainer. Relationships rule”. As you progress through the 4 generations, how important is the value of relationships for each relative to the work itself?
5. What does an organization need to understand about itself in order to facilitate a successful transition of leadership?
6. Tell us what you’re doing now-what projects are you working on?

  1. I was pleased to hear Camille’s thoughts on character and leadership styles. My old boss used to use the phrase “has the fire” when it comes to leadership, so that hits home.

  2. There’s nothing more fascinating than the silent generation. Would like to learn more.
