Our guest on this segment of the Smallbiz Brain is an expert who has identified THE ONE problem, that, when addressed, makes solving all the others problems easier to solve. Beyond that and even better—he has a solution.
Gary Harpst is a true thought leader and over a 20 year period including 100 man-years of research and about 20 million in funding, has recognized a single problem-cycle that appears across the spectrum of small and mid-sized business. He’s says that with recognition of these cycles, business owners can better balance their strategy with the execution of that strategy—what he says is at the heart of business problems and issues.
Gary’s company, Six Disciplines is dedicated to help business organizations systemize and plan for balancing their strategy and execution so they can move from “fire fighting” to strategic planning for controlled growth.

Speaking of leaders, every child has a potential of becoming a leader. All they need is for them to get enough education to develop their talents and ability. Education today is quite hard to attain because there are some parents that are struggling hard just to meet their ends. Obama is now eying an overhaul of the educational system, because our educational system is in need of some work. American education has been in need of some quick loans to spruce up their curricula and help our future generations of workers and leaders to achieve better performance in academic fields and also greater competitive qualities in the workforce. The idea is to replace the former testing format with higher standards and more stringent curricula. Let us hope that this is the overhaul that will get the American educational system back on track.
